CALEDONIAN SOCIETY. I PROM OCR. OWN CORS£BPONUBNT>.
On Tuesday evening last a general meet , ing of members and intending members was held in the Tariki Hall. Mr A. Rae, chairman of the committee for the last year, was voted to the chair, and his first act was to call on the secretary to reaJ the balance-sheet. This showed a cash profit of 9d on the year's operations, besides which the Society possesses a number of valuable assets, by which expenditure will be greatly lessened this year. Fouiteen new members then joined tbe Society, a much better start than was made last year. It was stated that some members of the late committee did not appear to have paid for their tickets, but it was pointed out that these members had out of their own pockets met the considerable defieienoy which had occurred in connection with the recent concert, and they had thus paid, and as members of the committee were at any time liable to pay, a- much, greater sum than the cost of a members ticket. On tbe motion of Mr Coppard it was resolved (first) "That the rule having reference'to the number of members of the Committee be rescinded, and that in the future tbe number of the Committee be nine, with power when necessary to appoint suhrcommittees outside their own no»t>er "; aod (second) "That the Chairman and Secretary be ex-ofiicio members of the Committee." ■ . The election of officers then took place, with the following results: — Chairman tif Committee, JSx Adam Rae; bon. secretary, Mr iA. Woodhead; members of Committee, Messrs H. Stratford, A. Kerr, J. M. Adams, H. Pote, T. J. Nicholls, D. Jones, F. Zimmermaon, J.
