NOLAN TONKS,& COSTS (HAWERA) STOCK REPORT.

Messrs Nolan, Tonks, & Co.'s report: — At Eltham, on the Bth inst, there was a large entry of cattle and keen competition throughout, most lines being disposed of at the hammer. At Hawera, on the 10th inst., the quantity advertised came forward*. There was brisk bidding for male cattle. Prices for other classes were somewhat lower. We quote : At Eltham, store cows L 39s to L 3 17s 6d, cows and calves L 4 7s Bd, forward cows L 3 16s to L 4, fat cows L 4 7s 6d to L 4 108, 18-months quiet heifers L 2 10s to L 2 16s, 2 to 2J year heifers L 3 2s 6d to L 3 ss, yearling heifers L 2 5s to L 2 10s, yearling steers L 2 15s to L 2 17s, 12 to 18 months steers L 3 to L 3 7s 6d, weaners 20s to 295. At Hawera— Forward bullocks L 6 7s 6d, to L 6 12s, 2 to 2J year steers L 4 13s 6d to L 4 17s Bd, 18 month to 2 year steers L 3 10s to L 3 17s 6d, 12 to 18 month steers L 3 to L 3 10s, weaners 21s to 30s, 2 year heifers L 3 to L 3 ss, 2* year heifers L 2 12s 6d to L 2 18s. store cows L 3 ,8s to L 3 15s, forward cows L 3 15s to L 4, fat cows L4ss to L 4 10s, cows and calves L 4 5s to L 4 10s. Sheep— Cull lambs 6s 4d, ewes and lambs, all counted, 8s 2d.
