LAWN TENNIS.

THE UNITY CLUB.

The Unity Club's courts in Courtenay street were formally opened on Thursday afternoon, in tbe. presence of a large number of the public. The Mayor (Mr E. Dockrill), in the course of a few remarks, congratulated the members on their enterprise in acquiring the freehold of the property, and predicted that the Club would have a prosperous future. The Bey J. Ingß also spoke, and a vote of thanks was passed to His Worship for his attendance. A scratch match was played during the afternoon between' teams selected by Mr Gaukrodger and Mr Sykes, the former winning by three points. The ladies kindly provided afternoon tea. and the consideration was much appreciated by those present. The Club h.ts already a fairly large membership, and judging from the interest taken in the game, there is good reason for be tiering that the Mayor's prediction as to the future success of the Club will be assured.

The man who whispers d«wr. a well About the goods he has to sell Won't reap thegleauiing golden dollars Like he who climbs a tree aud hollers. L he man who lets a cough alone To wear him down to skin and bone, Won't be in health so sound and sure As ho who takes Woods' Peppermint Cure
