A London cable received on Sunday informs us that at the Newmarket meeting the Middle Park Plate resulted :—: — Floriform, 1 ; Orchid, 2 ; Starshoot, 3. A cable from .Melbourne received on Sunday night states that things are very dull. In the rooms there was no business backers waiting for acceptances. Owing to winning the Guineas Kinglike came to 6 to 1 on the course, and was quoted this evening at sto 1. Sagacity was at Bto 1, while 12 to 1 wero laid against Cornquist and Inglestone. Severity is quoted at 10 to 1 for the Melbourne Cup. The Caulfield Cup will be run next Saturday. Kinglike is now favourite for the Cup at 6 to 1.

At the second day of the Dunedin Spring Meeting on Saturday, speculation was fairly brisk, £4730 10a being put through the totalisalor, making £9503 10s for the meeting, as compared with £4372 10s last year. There is evidently a revival of interest in racing in the southern city, judging by the large increase in the totalisator returns.

The Napier Park Spring Meeting will be openod to-morrow and concluded on Wednesday. Fair acceptances have been received for the first day. Severity is engaged in the Melbourne Cup at 8.7. Ho is owned and trained by J. Allsoo.

Kinglike is engaged in the Caulfield Cup at 7.2, and Melbourne Cup at 7.0. A Sydney cable received on Sunday states that the League of Wheelmen Five Miles -Amateur Championship of Australasia resulted : — Ben Goodson, 1 ; Munroe, 2 : Remfrey, "3. Won by 20 yards. Time, llinin' 58 2 sscc. The winner afterwards met Megson, who dofeated Goodson by six lengths.

In tho One Mile Tandem Championship, Megson aud Walne beat Lewis and Forbes.

Dundas (says an Auckland wrifer) came in for strong support from the South last week locally for the N.Z. Cup. A wager of 500 to 25 was written in one line, and 800 to 48 was also picked up from various members of the ring. Military is also firmer, several hundreds having been secured about him at 100's to 8.

A private telegram received in Auckland from Napier states that Hengist and Formula are being brought back to Auckland. They will be struck out of tho C.J.C. engagements. Telegrams received in Auckland from the South show that Record Reign has been knocked back in tho boiling on the N.Z. Cup, and that he has lost his position as favourite.

On his running last year Battleaxo seems to be harshly treated in the Prince of Wales' Handicap at tho Auckland Spring Meeting. On recent form Rosella looks well in at 8.1.

Lochaber, who won the Toorak Handicap at Caulfield on Saturday, does not figure in the Caullield and Melbourne Cup lists.
