[PEB PBESS ASSOCIATION.J SLY GROG IN THE KING COUNTRY. Auckland, Juno 20. There Avero - two convictions for sly grog-selling in the King Country at the To Awamutu Magistrate^ Court to-day. A. Ormsby avis finsi £20 and costs (£9 8s 3d), and Marae Edwards (a native) Avas fined £20 and costs (£3 7s). Other cases are pending. A PERILOUS VOYAGE. Auckland, June 21. Particulars of the voyage of the Enterprise slioav that she met exceptionally heaA-y Aveathsr the night leaving Wanganui. She arrived off Kaipar.i on the Ist inst., and experienced a heavy gale of five days' duration. The vessel Avas driven 200 miles westward. When next near land on the 9 th she met another gAlo and next Viay her topmast backstay was carried aAvay carrying aAvay the topmast. HOTEL DESTROYED BY FIRE Masterton, June 21. Hereock's MulgraA r e Hotel, Dreyerton, was destroyed by nro. It is supposed the fira originited through clothes drying in front of the fire becoming ignited. Nothing av.xs saved. The building Avas owned by R. P. Johnson. Insurances : £350 on build'ng, £375 on furniture and piano, £75 on stock ; all in the Commercial Union. The estimated los 3 over insurance is — building £250, contents £300. A NAPIER TRAGEDY. Napier, Juno 21. Ropata, charged Avith Avife murder, was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced ti seAen years' imprisonment. A STREET BRAWL. CnuisTCHURCH, June 21. An altercation took placo bstween three men named Daly, DiA r ers, and Trounson on Saturday night. Shortly after Daly was found on the footpath Avounded and bleeding, and Avas removed to the hospital. The other two men Avere arrested. As Daly is in a critical state and unconssious a remand Avas granted for a week. Divers is a steward on tho Rotomabana, and Trounson a jeAveller by trade. The latter admits his responsibility for Daly's injuries, but alleges it Avas in self defence. Daly is well known in roAving circles.
