Ropata, charged Avith Avife murder, was convicted of manslaughter and sentenced ti seAen years' imprisonment. A STREET BRAWL. CnuisTCHURCH, June 21. An altercation took placo bstween three men named Daly, DiA r ers, and Trounson on Saturday night. Shortly after Daly was found on the footpath Avounded and bleeding, and Avas removed to the hospital. The other two men Avere arrested. As Daly is in a critical state and unconssious a remand Avas granted for a week. Divers is a steward on tho Rotomabana, and Trounson a jeAveller by trade. The latter admits his responsibility for Daly's injuries, but alleges it Avas in self defence. Daly is well known in roAving circles.
