THE COMMAND OF THE EIGHTH DIVISION.

London, January 19.— Major-General Sir Henry Rundle, commanding at Dover, has been appointed to the command of the Eighth Division of the Army Corps, which is baing mobilised for active service in the Transvaal. [Major-General Rundle served in the Zulu war of 1879 with Wood's Flying Column; also with the Field Artillery in the Boer war of 1881 and the Egyptian war of 1882, being present at the battle of Tcl-el-Kcbir. He served during the Nile Expedition in 1884-5 ; with tho Soudan Frontior Field Force in 1885-7 ; in tho operations on tho Soudaa frouUor

in 1889 * and with -the Dongola Expeditionary force under Sir Herbert Kitchener in 1896 as Chief of the Staff. He was promoted to be Major-General for distinguished service in the field.]
