Received March 27, t.30 a.m. Mas ila, March 26.— Severe fighting ha3 taken place iound Manila. The Americans made a general advance, and met with a stubborn resistance from the Filipinos. The entire northern liae3 of American infantry intrepidly carried the trenches at the point of the bayonet, capturing the fortified town of Balintasig, Baeza, and Eatbuham, north east of Caolacan, and driving the Filipinos to Navaliebep, where the advance '"was checked. Severe fighting took place in the vicinity of Malabon. The Filipidos, leaving the trenches, fiercely charged the Oregon Regiment, killing eight and wounding 23. When they had been reinforced, the Oregons drove the rebels into Malabon. The Ameiican cruiser Mouadnock, assisted by gunboats, shelled the town. Brisk fightiog occurred on the banks of the Tuliaha River, where the Ameiicans carried the entrenchments, and the Filipinos retired to Malinta. Tbe Americans lost altogether 16 killed and 130 wounded.
