A New Industry.

PROPOSED MILK C >NDENSISG COMPANY. Ir has often been a source of surpriae that in this district, which produces tha raw material so abundantly, the manufacture of condensed milk has nof formed a prominent industry. An attempt is now being made to remedy the omission, and in another column will be found the abridged prospectus of The Condensed Milk Company of New Zealand, Ltd. 1 he company, whose Capital it is propose! to*fix a*- £7000 in £5 shares, is being formed to acquire from Mr Donald Muuro, the butter and condensed milk factory established by him near Sentry Hill. The provisional director*, nono of whom, by the \r*j, 'ire directly interested in the property to be acquired, include two or three well known townsmen, and the seoretary (pro. tern ) is Mr H. Gay, who is largely interested in tho dahyiog industry. Accordiug to the'prospectus. thorough tests havo been made of the cost of producing the condensed milk, and every other piccaution apponrs to have been observed in ascerbiiuiog the prospectrt oh 1m business. It is an industry fcl a~. ought to thrive in TararTaki, where nulk can be produced so cheaply, and thero seems to be no reason why a locally manufactured article should not supersede imported goods, nor indeed why a market for, Taranaki condensed milk should not be found in the othor colonies. Mr Walter Bewley will act as broker for the Company iv New Plymouth.
