HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The; Hospital and Charitable Aid Boaid met on Wednesday. Present: Messrs J. Bellringer (chairman), Haworth, Tayler, McDonald, McCullum, Corkill, Lepper, Mackay, Major, Scott, and Stewart. Correspondence was read regarding the case of a young girl who is in the Auckland Hospital, and for whose maintenance a claim has been made on tbe Board. A report was received on the circumstances of Mrs McPhun, and the Board decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Chairman pending receipt of report from Constable Hickman. The temporary allowance granted to J. Carroll, Rabotu, will be continued. 'I he question of making a claim on the Christchurcht Charitable ' Aid Board for the maintenance and treatment of an old man named White, from that city, ' was discussed — . Several members apoke strongly of the action of tbe Christchurch Board in sending the man here while in such a condition, while other speakers did not think tbe Christchurch Board was altogether to blame — On Mr Major's motion, the Board decided to make full enquiries into the matter. Tho Board, after dealing with the appointment of a medical officer at the New Plymouth Hospital, adjourned, and the annual meeting was held.
