[FKOM OUtt OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Tiie schooner Ngaru, Captain Fletcher, arrived from Kaipara about. 9 o'clock Yesterday morning laden with about 82,000 feet at of kauri, consigned^ the New Plymouth Sash and Dote Factory. As showing the' splendid sfateof the bar, I might say that the boat sailed over at almost low water. The run was made iv fast time, she only having left Ka'ipara on Saturday at 10 p m. «»>*.> t The u&uil monthly meeting of the Town Board wa3 held laat evening, the whole of the "members being 1 present. Messrs Dover and Fraserj on behalf of the Works Committee, advi?ed some alterations to the culvert and drain near Mr Howard's property, and also that some sand grass be supplied to "Mr Howard to plant so as to stop the sand encroaching. On the motion of Messrs Joll and Pearce, the matter was left in the hands of the Works Committee to deal with. Mr Hignett asked if anything had been done in reference to making the footpaths in the cemetery. The Chairman said that the funds would not go very far towards doing the necessary work. On the motion of Messrs Bi^heno and Pearce, it was resolved to leave the matter in abeyance for one month,*' the Cemetery CoJimittee in the meantime to ascertain the number of paths it is thought advisable to make and the amount in hand.— to do the work. Mr Hignett resigjjjfl his position on the Cemetery Comna^^H The Chairman reported en behal&^^^^H Works Committee that the fqotfpai^^H front of Messrs Kyle and "VTatsol^^^B had been attended- to, and that the -r^^H near the flagstaff had been^ cut. * Fo^H tenders were received for the posit ionSH Health Officer to the Foard, and on ainj amendment Mr John Lafng was appoint ted at a remuneration of £10 per year. The tender of Mr Palarnontain for the supply of kerosene and glasses ' for a period of twelve months was accepted. An applieatioa to fence allofcqjentsin the cemetery was granted to Mr Fraser. A renewal or slaughtering licecse "was granted the Waitara Freezing Works. A letter was read from the District Traffic Manager of tb* New Zealand Railway stating that he pould not comply with the request of the Board to open Domettstreet across the railway line. Qn the motion of Messrs Bicheno and: Pearce, it was resolved to ask that a turnstile be erected on the lower side o>f Uie street so as to allow passengers to bavo easy access to the station. . It was resolved to insure the Board's property for £25. Applici-. tions to be placed on the roll ' were granted to the following : D. Leslie, A. Joll, J. Laing, W. T. Joll, L. A. an iE; Bicheno, R. Sauaders. An application from the Freezing Works was referred' back for signature. Mrs B. Palmer and C P. Dugdale's applications were not granted. A committee consisting of Messrs Pearce, Ogle, and Joll were appointed to wait on the Manager of the Bank of Australia in reference to the Board's account. Mr Bicheno gave notice to move a!; next meeting of the Board that steps be taken in regard to fire prevention. AfUr passing accounts 10 the amount of £21 17d Bd, tha meeting adjourned.
