MASSEY WATSON S BANKEUP TOY Auckland, Ootober 6. At a meoting of Massey Watson's creditors the Assignee read a letter from the debtor's mother, instructing Watson not to addre-ts her as the Hon. ,Mra Watson, and disclaiming that title. Debtor admitted haviug put a notice of his mother's death in the papers ia July though the was still living.* FiaE AT MANAIA. Haweba, October 6. A shop and house at Manaia, owned and occupied by Mrs Butler, was burned to the ground this morning. R A. McKinlay, cabinetmaker, who occupied part of the premises, lost £200 worth of stock and £70 worth of tools. Mrs Butler's furniture was Insured for £55, and the building for £125 inthe Commercial Union; McKin'ays stock £50 in the South British. The occupants, lost everything, while the neighbouring shops hid a narrow escape. EXCHANGES OF PRODUCE GRADERS. Wellington, October 27. Mr Thornton, Govern m <nt grader of produce here, exchanges post Lions with Mr Lang, giade; at ChristcLurch and Dunedin. FORGING EDUCATION CERTIFICATES. The Education Board has discovered that certificates of the Sixth Standard- are being forged for the purpose of obtaining employment, etc. At present the standards ate all on one form, and those un passed are lefs blank. To prevent further forgeries Sixth Standard Certificates will be on a separate form and issued by Inspectors on'y instead of headmasters.
