f>noM our own correspondent.] The monthly meeting of the Inglewood Domain Board was held on .the 13th mat Present : Hessis J. C. Peach (chairmau), Brown, Tarplee, and Julian The miautes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. Tho Fame members then sat a 9 a Town Board The auditor-general returned the balancesheet stating that it was found correct. Re the section now in occupation of Mr J. Newland, Mr F. H. Brown said it would make an old men's bawling green. It was resolved that application bo made for the said section to be Gazetted for a museum Mr Peach asked for the use of the Recreation Grounds on Boxing Day for a Wesleyan Sunday School picnic. The colltctor's statement for the month ending 13th December, 1897, was :— Balance in band of collector Bth November, 12s 4d ; rates for 1897 and 1898, £23 18-s 4d ; reserves, £4 8s ; Recreation Grounds, ss ; Town Hall,' £1 18 a ; balance in band of collector, 13th December, £1 16 a 8d ; balance iv Bank to credit of Board's account, £50 7s 6d. The following was received from the Department of Lands, New Plymouth, re section 235, Town of Inglewood :— To Mr J. C. Peacb, Chairman Town Board, Inglewood : With reference to your letter of the 7th ulfc. on the above subject, I have the honor to inform you that I am in receipt of a memo, from the Undersecretary of Crown Lands poiuting out that if tho Inglewood Library Association is not using this section as a site for tho parpose for which it was reserved, it should be taken from them. Will your Board as a local body having charge of the site offer some opinion on the proposil ? Mr F. H. Brown asked if the footpath from Mr Julian's hotel to the Gymnasium Hall is to be kerbed. Resolved that the dog tax for the year 1898 be 5s all round. Mr Julian asked about the cow that was recently buried by Mr Lawson ; Mr Mackay would not pay more than 5s as his fharo of the oxpen&e. Tho Chairman said he was not in favor of paying more than half the cost, 15s. Resolved, that tenders be ■ called for carting broken metal, &c, from tho Board's pit for the year 1898. The following accounts wero passed for payment: -Ford, 12s; Bancroft, £l 10«, K. C. Hughe*, solicitor, £2 7s; Town Clerk, £3 15*; McKay, £l 9s; Audit Department for auditing Board s accounts, £2 G* Bd. The Clerk was instructed to obtain timber for kerbiug. I hear that there are two cases to brdeali with m the S.M. Court, New Plymouth, in a few days. One is a case of a Scotsman hitting a native of Poland over the head with a stick. The Pole came to Dr Barding to have bis head mended. The other case is the shooting o£ a dog by an ex-storeman. A young Polish lad was brought to Inglewood on Sunday last with a large shark book right through the side of his face. Air Quigly had to cut the hcok with a file beioro it could be extracted. As far as I can understand, the hook was fastened to tho end of a stick for the purpose of gaffing eels and other fishsuch as lobsters. The hook got into the lad's face by accident.
