Londox, September 5. — Silver has re« coTcred, to the extent of ljd per oz, and ii now quoted at 2s $d per oz. Mutton — New Zealand crossbred wethers
and maiden ewes, Canterbury, 3Jd per lb ; Dnucdin aud Southland, 3^d per lb; North Island, 3^d per lb. The above quotations are for average quality and line 3of not lesa than 100 carcases.
Lamb— Prime Canterbury (321 bto 421 b per carcase), 3|d ; fair average, including Duneilin, Southland, Wellington, and secondary Canterbury (per 321 bto 421 b carcase), 2Jd per lb. The for lamb do not include sales' of small lamb 3or heavies or inferior qualities. River Plate sheep, crossbred or merino wethers, heavy, 2 9-16 d; light, 2Jd per Jb. For sheepskins there is a good demand, and the bulk have been sold, the best merino crossbred at \d above the July rates, other sorts uncbanged. London, September 6. — The temporary shortage of silver in Nevr York has hnd a hardening effect upon the market. The London brokers considsr the rise artificial. Wheat has an improving demand. Mark Lane market prices show an adTance of 6d.
