PROMENADE CONCERT.

There was a large attendance in the Drill Hall oo Thursday night on the occasion of the Promesade Concert promoted by the Ui ited Societies Band. 1 he main attraction of the evening was the drawing of the Art Uniou in connection with the Associated Snorts Ground at Fitzroy. The keenest interest was displayed in ithe drawing which was con ducted by the Mayor (Mr J. B. Roy), Captain Captl, and Messrs A. E. A. Clarke, and L. M. Taunton (hon. iecretary). The money dorived from the Art Union will be spent in improving the sports ground at Fitzroy. Mr L. M. Taunton, who has been most energetic in his efforts to have the sjJorts ground established, carried out the secretarial duties in connection with the Art Union, and he must be congratulated on the success that has been achieved. The proceeds from tho concert were in aid of the instrument fund of the Band. During the evening the Band, under Bandmaster H. Cottier, played a well selected programme.
