LAND BOARD.

Tho Board met on MoniLry . Vi oiou : The Commissioner of CrWu Lands (Chairman), Hon. T. Kelly, Messrs Siolk and Heslop. Lands disposed of : — Sec 9, block 8. ELuiroa, J. R. Aitken and J. Aitkeu, 4IW acres, 0.r.p. ; aec 8, block 16, N^ai'imam, H. Reynolds, 200 acres, l.p. W. Furnisa applied to sublet; ssc b. block 12, Ngaire, to T. Partridge, on. terms submitted. — The Board decided to request that deed of sab-lease be submitted for perusal. The Clifton County Council intimated as to tha expenditure of tbi r ds on Junction Road authorised by the Bo r ird in November, 1895.— The matter, was referred to Mr Robinson and tho Ranger for report oa adjustment of moneys spent. The Waimate Road Board asked that thiida accruing to sees within the Road District now being paid t6 Hawera County Council, be for the future paid to the Road Board direct, with the exception that at least half of the thirds from sections abutting on both Eltham and side roads be paid, instead of all thirds^ from these sections going to tho Hawera County Council for payment of interest on loan. The County Council were agreeable that tkirds might bo so -paid, except from sections on Eltham Road which were pledged for loan . — The matter was referred to Mr Robinson for report, as the loan was raised when ha was ranger. • ' . The action of the Commissioner in endorsing th^ec consents to mortgage was confirmed. A. H Denham was allowed to capitalise and acquire freehold of sees 11 and 13, Hock 12, Egmont. The Board had no pow«r to grant J. S. Walker a yearly lease of «oc 205, Egmont Tillage. H. Saunders was granted a yearly lease of sec 592, 593, 624, and 625, Stratford. M. O Halloran's application for a lease of school reserve, sec 27, Tongaporutu Village, was roforred to the Education Board. Tho roport of Mr Stanners, Road Inspector, npon the Ngaire Improved Farm Settlement, waa laid on the table. The report was adopted, aod the interests of M. Ryan, Gr. Simpson, J. Dunn, and B. Henn, jenr., were declared forfeited for non-compliance with conditions. Mr Robinson's report was adopted in marking out tha site oi the one acre of • sec 26, block 2, Oeo, leased to James Gorrie at last meeting. The Board decided to inform J. Agnew they had no power to grant his request that sec 4, block 4, Mimi, surrendered by him, be restored. Tho Inspector was requested to report on the value of improvements on sec 19, block 2, Omona, held by R. W. Halse. Action in respect to J. Healy's, sen., appeal in respect of sec 8, block 3, Ngatimam, was defered till next meeting. Mrs Manning wa3 allowed an extension of time to pay rent on sec 1, block 16, Ngati mar v. R. T3. Mcßao and J. Lawis applied for yearly lease of sec 319 and 20, block 26, Manaia. Applicants will bo asked in the event of ths section!) being put up at auction whether either of them would be disposed to purchase tho sections for cash. P. C. Siritrop'* application for sec 5, block 14, Ngatimaru, was referred to tho Raoger to roport on. J. Muir's application that his wife be not compelled to Jivo on sec 48, block 1, Muhoe, on account of advancad age, wai deferred. Actieu was deferred in A. Reid a application foe hi* wife being allowed to keep on a boarding-house at "VVhangamomona instead of going to live on his section. H. Me teal fe applied for an amendment of his licence to occupy sec 3, block 1, Ngatimaru, consequent upon a deviation of tho Junction Road taking some three acres from the section. — Referred to the Clerk of the Clifton County Council for particulars of compensation. The report of the Ranger was read upon tho application of S. J. Smith for an access to sec 85, Grey District, acros* the closed road adjoining the section.— The report was adopted, and the Board declined to accede to the request. — The closed road was added to the aative reserve No. 4, from whiih land had boen taken for a road without compensation. Sec 17, blcck 12, Ngaire, will,b» reoffered at a valuarion reduced by JCII2 10*. The forfeiture of sec 11, block 5, Kaupokonui, was cancelled, as tha rent had boen paid. Application re sec 1, block 1, Ngatimaru, was held over. Soo 91, block 10, Pouatu, held by G. Lees, was declared forfeited. Applications will be dealt with in the ordinary way to transfer sec 6, block 4, Huuoa, from A. W. Jensen to E. C. Beusemann.— Mr fJovott applied. The Taranaki County Council eubmittsd proposils for expenditure of £88 11s 3d of- thirds.— Passed. The, Board adjourned.
