FOOTBALL MANAGEMENT.
TO THE EDITOR, - Sir,— Anyone watching the big crowd disembarking at Hawera from Hie special train in connection with the football match on Tuesday must havo been struck ; with the popularity of the game in Taranaki, and not knowing how th« affairs of the Union were managed^or mismanaged — one would naturally want to know, seeing that a tram was arranged' for Tuesday's match, why, for an important fixture like the meeting between Wellmgtoß and Taranaki, only the ordinary traiiTat ordinary fares was left for tnoW country admirers of the game who' likj towea good match; but as our local Union is virtually run by delegates and officeri residing in South Taranaki; further ex planation would probably be unnecessary. I can only hope that 6n future occasions when theie interprovincial matches are fixed to be played in New Plymouth the Management Committee will tty and sink local feeling, and by getting"* special tram run at cheap fares attract all supporters of the game, and atthe>ame time swell the gate receipts, aß'wak done at Hawera. ~ I am, &c, •'* An Old jPxater.
