Wednesday, September 2. — The Speaker took the chair at 2.30 p.m. The Tiade Unions Act Amendment Bill was read a first time. The Wesloyan Methodist Church Property Trust Act Further Amendment Bill was read a third time and passed. The Minister of Education moved lie third reading of the Asiatic Rentri i.jn Bill. A long debate ensued, most of .->e speakers merely repeating (heir arguments for or against the measure. In the course of the debate, Mr McLean moved that the Bill be recommitted next day for the purpose of inserting a clause delaying the date of the coming into operation of the Statute. On division, this was lost by 17 to 14. On the question being put that the Bill do now pass, Mr Shrimski called for a division, and the final stages were passed by 16 votea to 14. The Council then rose.
