WAITARA.

[from our own coruespondent.] The annual meeting of householders was held on Monday evening, April 27th, at the school. Mr H. T, Joll was voted to tho chair, and called on the outgoing committee for their report, which ihowed that the school had maintained its usual efficiency, and that an improvement hid been made in the attendance during tho last year. Tbe committee urged on the parents to co-operate, so that better results might be obtained next year. The balance-sheet showed a credit balance on March 31st of £10 12s 9d. On the motion of Mr Lawrence, seconded by Mr Newbury, the report and balunco-shte^ were adopted, and a vote of thanks was accorded the outgoing committee. The meeting then procoeded to the election of a new Committee, which, on the ballot being taken, resulted in the election of tho following persons :—: — G. Pearce, H. T. Joll, B. E. Lawrenco, Isaac Elliot, W. McKoy, F. Newbury, E. A. Dugdale. A vote of thanks to the Chairman brought the meeting to a close. Tho newly elected Committee then met, and re-eleclei Mr G. Pearee Chair- 1 man for the ensuing year. I might here add that 'for many years past the Chairman of this Committee has done the work of secretary gratuitously ; doubtless it would now be as well to elect a paid secretary, as after practising economy for so many yeara the Committee's account appears now in a position to do so.
