INGLEWOOD

[from our own correspondent.] Aprii, 2. — Mrs Hood gave a concert" on Wednesday evening in tho Town Hall in aid of the funds of the Inglewood public library. The audience was not as large as the merits of the concert deserved. The singing was most pleasing all through, Mrs Thomas Drake's, Mrs F. Pirani's, and Mrs Hood's sinking being much admired. The latter lady is certainly a great acquisition to the district; she is possessed of a well-trained voice, and I trust it will not be long until she will again give such another entertainment. The following was the programme :— Part 1, overtnro, Flambeaux March (Scotton Clark). Miss McKay, Messrsßankin, Mobray, tfiggs, Caratens, and Tarplee ; quartette, Dame-Durden (Hannington), MesdamesHood,Drake,MessrsHoodandTuck; song, Au Revoir (Kennedy), Mrs F. Pirani ; pianoforte duet, Hoffnung's Strahlen (Lanner O.P. 93, Leipzig), Mrs W. Hood and pupil, Miss Mabel Nicholls; song, Dear Heart (Mattei), Mrs W. Hood; song, Madeline (Nelson). Mr Tuck; piano solo, Alice, Where Art Thou (Ascher), Mrs W. Hood ; vocal duet, Sainted Mother (Maritans), Mesdames Hood and Drako. Part 11. Overture, March from oratorio, St. Polycarp, Orchestra (Mrs Hood, Miss Mackay, Messrs Rankin, Tarplee, Mobray, Higgs, andCarstens); pianoforte solo, Norwegian Bridal Procession. Mrs Hood, Messrs Hood and Tuck; song, Ruby (Gaberil), Mrs Drake; piano duet, Pesther Wiltzer (Lanner Op. 93, Leipzig), Mrs Hood and pupil, Miss M. Nicholls; song. Let mo Like a Soldier Fall (Maritana), Mr Tarplee ; quartette, Sweet and and Low (Barnby), Mesdames I food and Drake, Messrs Hood and Tuck. The concert was oue of the best, if not the best, ever given here, and a most enjoj - able evening was concluded with God Save the Queen . There was a dance afterwards, but I did not wait for it, as I have given it best some years ago. The Inglewood contingent of the Hawera Mounted Rifles, with their horses, left here this morning by train for the Easter encampment at Woodville.
