POLICE COURT. THIS DAY.

Saturday, Feb:uary 29th.— Before W. Stuart, Esq., S.M.

Inebriate.— Thomas Miles, who was arreßted on Friday evening on a charge of drunkenness, by Constable Roche, pleaded guilty, aud ras convicted, and discharged with a caution. Remand. — Michael Dcbeek, alias John Lawson was charged that on August sth, af Alley's farm on the Mountain Road, in Hawera County, he 'lid pretend to A. A. Fantham as follows : — " I have sec 40, block 11, Huiroa, containing 200 acres ; 150 are in grass and fenced. House, 4 rooms. Mortgaged, £100. Value of land, £1000. Rated value." By means of which false preteDce the said Michael Dobeck, alias John Lawson, did then unlawfully and knowingly obtain of and from A, A. Fantham cows of the value oi£6s 6s' 6d, with intent to cheat and 'defraud him of the same. — Mr Weston, who appeared for the accused, applied for a remand to Hawera till March 6th. — The remand was granted. Tho Court adjourned.
