RECREATION GROUNDS BOARD.
The Board met on Friday night. Present ; Messrs Skinner (chairman), Ford, Govett, Newman, Corkill, ftnd Hughos. The Town Band made an application for the use of the grounds on New Year's Day, and authority to charge for admission on that date.— Granted. The hon. secretary informed the Board that he had received a complaint about a young lady plucking flowar3 in the grounds on Sunday last. — The Board decided not to prosecute in the case, the offender having apologised and being apparently sorry for her conduct, but Bhould there ba any repetition of the offonce the case will be put in the hands of the police. The application of the Salvation Army for holding a picnic in the grounds on Boxing Day was granted. Mr A. Hood wrote, informing the Board that owing to illness he is reluc- ', tantly compelled to hand over tho further conservation of the maze.— The Board decided, That the thanks of the Board be [ tendered to Mr A. Hood for his past , services and labor in planting and attention to the maze, and that the Board regret that, owing to illness, he is unable 1 to render any further assistance. Mr R. Cock was appointed overaeer for the month. , , : The Board adjourned.
