CATTLE DISEASE IN NEW SOUTH WALES.
|PKK PRKHH ASSOCIATION | Sydney, December 6. — A conference of members of the Stock Board of Now South Wales bas been hold for the purpose of devising means of protecting stock owners with regard to tho responsibility of diseased cattle after being passed by a Government Inspector and sold. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Premier, and urge an amendment of the law in this direction. Subsequently cho deputition interviewed the Premier, who promised careful consideration of the question next session, which would be devoted to legislation tending to the purification of food, drink, and improving tho health of tho people. In tho meantime, tho Government would take steps to prevent the Courts being used to prosecute owners. The Premier also took the opportunity to announce that the Government' intended to take prompt Rteps to materially reduce the railway freights for stock and agricultural produce. In order to meet the consequent loss of revenue, the Railway Commissioners would bo voted a sum of money each year as a sot-off. The Government, Mr Reid said, was determined in every possible way to assist the production of the colony.
