BODY OF A MAN FOUND. Auckland, December 8. The body of Patrick Doherty was found by the roadside three miles from Puhoi. CHILD DROWNED IN A WELL. An infant son of VV. Howell, of Upper Waiwcra. had followed its mother to the well, and was supposed to have returned home. On the mother searching the well the child was found \ drowned. HEAVY FINES. At tho Police Court, fines and costs to the amount of £19 vrero imposed on two persons for having fished out of season, and without a license. The defendants — Dr. Connolly and Mr W. T. Owen, two well-known residents of Wangnmii— pleaded guilty, and mado an explanation ns to how the affair arcso ; also that both defendants are prominent members of a kindred society in Wftiiganui. Russo and his friend overpowered and disarmed Peiroti. A grievance against Russo is said to be the cause.
