WHEREAS by section 143 of " The Public Works 'jVct, 1894 " (hereinafter termed " the said Act"), it is provided that no toll shall/ be payable unless the scale of tolls is piiblicly notified for fourteen days befor^' becoming first payable : j And whereas by secoion 105 of the said Act it is, inter alia, '■ enacted that all powers, rights, dutijss, and liabilities thereby vested in an^l imposed upon a Road-Board, in the ca^e of a Government road shall be vested iiiand imposed upon the Governor : ? And whereas by Orider in Council dated the twenty- third Aa,\r of January, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, that portion of the road across the Mokau Ferry, with approaches thereto, was declared a Government road, and it is expedient to fix the scale of tolls to be ollected at the said ■ferry : Now, therefore. His Excellency the Governor of the Odlony of New Zealand, by his duly-appointed Deputy, Sir James Prendergaat, Knight, Chief Justice, in pursuance of the herein-before recited authority, doth hereby authorise and fix the charges named in the Schedule hereto as the tolls to be levied on the Mokau Ferry in the several cases and between the hours specified in the said Schedule.
