! SCHOOL COMMITTEE. JUNE 7.— The Inglowood School Committee held their usual mouthly meeting on the 6th instant. Present : Messrs Tarplee (chairman), Bridgeman, Lamb, Paulger, Storing, Spurdle, Surrey, Todd, and Sutherland. The Chairman said he bad been informed that the rope 3 belonging to the swing at Inglewood were not lost as supposed, there being only one rope carried away. He also stated that Mr Grant would take steps to prevent the I children going through the holly hedge. j The question arose as to calling for tendera for leasing eight acres, more or less, at the Dudley Road school. Mr Surrey said he would like to ask the Secretary to write to the Board of Education -with reference to the sections above mentioned, he being under the impression that the Committee should have the permission of that body before leasing the rections. It was proposed by Mr H. Bridgeraan, and seconded by Mr D. Todd, that tenders be called for leasing the land. Mr Surrey proposed that the clerk write to the Board of Education asking if tho Committee had the power of leasing the land. Thi3 motion, as well as the previous one, was carrisd. I make no remarks on these two propositions, The Rev. Mr Jones wrote, respecting letting the Norfolk Road Schoolroom for religious purposes to tho Wesleyans. It was proposed by Mr Surrey, and seconded by Mr Sutherland, that the use of the schoolroom' be given as requested, the head, teacher to be acquainted with the same.

Mr Hooker wrote, asking the use of three schoolrooms for the purpose of exhibiting a magic lantern. Agreed to, provided he pays 53 for each schoolroom in advance.

The Secretary of tho Board of Education- wrote, stating that steps would be taken to fill tho vacancy left by tho resignation of Miss Hamerton ; also that dual desks would bb provided for the Norfolk Road School.

The following tenders were received for fencing the Dudley Road school ground : — T. R. Surrey, 8s 9d per chain ;J. Pollette, 8s per chain ; D. Williamson, 7s 9d per chain (accepted) ; W. Codd, 8s 11s per chain ; H. Dennis, 9s per chain. Tenders are to be cabled for cleaning the Dudley Road Schoolroom, Mra Wilson having resigned tho job. The parents of Boveral children, who have abseated themselves from school, are to be proceeded against immediaielv. Acoounts amounting to £10 0s 6d were passed for payment.
