ALLEGED HORSE STEALING.
At Hawera on Friday Rudolph Lukushoski was charged with having on tho 10th March, 18i)5, at Halcombe, stolon one* mare, valued at £15, the property of Hpnry Honsen. Mr Barton for prosecution ; Mr Wiseman (instructed by Mr Samuel) for accused. Evidence, was called, to support the opening by the prosecution. Accused reservod his defence; and was committed for trial at the next sitting of the Supreme Court at New Plymouth".

Mr A. J. White, one of tho best-known business men in Chriatehuroh, died early on Friday morning, nftor a protracted illness. Mr White waR the principal furniture dealer in Christchurch, and was a very «ld resident of that city.
Mr Newton King has received a wire to-day informing him that Mr J. B. MoEwan has been definitely appointed as head of the Dairy Department, and that the first Dairy School will be opened at Edendale on the 19th June.
Mr Henry Rose, a well-kn»wn flgnre in athletic circles in Dunedm, died on Sunday from tuberculosis meningitis,
