WHEREAS by section 143 of « Tha Public Works Act, 1894 " (hereinafter termed "the said Act"), it is provided'that no toll shall be payable unless the scale of tolls is publicly notified for fourteen days before becoming first payable : And whereas by section 105 of the said Act it is, inter alia, enacted that all powera, rights, duties, and liabilities thereby vested in and imposed upon a Road Board, in the case of a Government road shall be vested in and imposed upon the Governor :

And whereas by Order in Council duteil the twenty-third day of Jauuary, ono thousand eight hundred and ninety-five, that portion of the road across the mokau Ferry, with approaches thereto, was declared a Government road, and it is expedient to fix the scale of tolls to be ollected at the said ferry : c Now, therefore, His Excellency th Governor of the Colony of New Zoalandi by his duly-appointed Deputy, Sir James Preudergast, Knight, Chief Justice, in pursuance of the herein-before recited authority, doth hereby au fchorise and fix the charges named in tho Schedule hereto as the tolls to be levied on the Mokau Ferry in the several cases and between the hours specified in the said Schedule.
