BANKRUPTCY.

ESTATE OF JABEZ GREENHILL The following depositions, in the estate of Jabez Greenliill, were taken by Mr E. G. Bauchope, D.0.A., on Friday :—: — Jubez Greenhill, being sworn, said : I arrived in Taranaki from Canterbury in August, 1892. I had about £50 m cash, and cheese plant to the value of £75 at that time. I was not in debt at that time, except a sum of £23 to my son Jabez, which has since been paid (in July last). I have been engaged in dairy fanning on a farm of Mr Veale's since I came here, and to the date of my bankruptcy. I bailed cci Uiu eo\> s from Mr Veale, with grazing rights for the same, and also the use and benefit of dwelling house and other buildiags for five years, on terms mentioned on bailment, dated Gfch Sept , 1892. To secure the rent thereby received, I gave Mr Veale an instrument, by way of security, over my cheesD-makiDg plant. Under the bailment he undertook to supply me with 50 useful milch cows for live years. During the first two years I had to pay £4 5s per cow, and £4 per head during the last three years. I have never had 50 cows. I was eleven cows short for the first year, six cows short duiingthe second year, and ten cows short during the current year. I asked him several times to make up the full number, but - not- iii writing. I asked him for the first time about November, 1892. My ..son, Jabez Silas, was present at the_time. Mr Yeale said ho would see what he could do, or something to that effect. He dKT ribfc make up the difference in- the number, which was eleven cows. In .the following spring I asked him in his shop to make up the number, and h£ said he was hard up aa he could be. Ob lHh Ma,y, 1895, 1 asked him in writing for an allowance if the'riuniber was not made up. The horse and harness belongs to my son John, who can produce the receipts for them. The chamber organ", is the jproperty of my daughter Eose, who, I have no doubt, can Batisfy the D.O. Assignee that the property is hers." I attribute my bankruptcy to Mr Yeale not supplying me with the proper, number ,of cows, to the _ bad f coding through the last two winters, thus causing the cows to give ' leas milk, and the fall in the prico of cheese. I filed ac /MrfVeala^thfeajiened; to .terminate the agreement if I did .not pay before the end of last month, May; „-,.- <- , GEXEttAU MEETING- 1 IN JABEZ GKEEK- '< i'.~ ~.' T Thill's estate.
