FAILING TO KEEP BOOKS. Palmerston North, Juno 7. At tho District Court this morning A. F. Laurenson was admitted to probation for six months on a charge of failing to keen proper books to show his financial position, and was ordered to pay the costs amounting to about £25, OPENING A LETTER. George Storey, chargod with opening a letter, was admitted to probation for twelvo months, and ordered to pay tho cost 3of the prosecution and find one security for £100. Judge Kettle gave prisoner good advico earning him if ho did not keep better company and reform his ways lie would sentence him to a term of imprisonmont. Tito probation officor's report was favorable to both accußod.
