Professor Hugo will lecture to-night on " Tbe Chin and Forehead." The Scenery Preservation Society has juifc received ;i pleasant recognition from a perfect stranger to tbe district, which shows that those who have travelled most are able to appreciate its objects beat. Mr West, of the Tariki Road, meeting a Londoner by chance, told him to see the beautiful piece of ground in his occupation, part of which was saved from destruction by means of the society, and told his visitor that this did not exhaust its good deeds. The stranger expressed pleasure that there shonld be inch a useful society, and asked Mr West to send in a guinea to the secretary, which has been duly received.
