Melbourne, April 28. A tragedy is recorded in fc'outh Molbourne. A man named Thorpe, residing in the district, heard a knock early in tbe morning, and on opening tie door, a woman named Kate Norton, with whom he had been living, fell into his arms. She had a fearful gash iv her throat, nnd died' almost immediately. Tho police arrested a young man named Arthur Beck, who confessed that ho and the woman cohabited some years ago, and that they met the previous night, which they Bpent together, and because she reFused to resume her old relations ho cut her throat with a razor, to purchase which he had to paw& his clothes. Later details show that the new find, which has been made at tbe locality 20 miles from Coo!ga'rd;e, consists of an immense lode of ironstone outcropping two feet, showing largo dabs and impregnated with fine gold. Thousands of tons are in sight, and tho lode, which has already been tested to a depth of a couple of feet, shows indications of going dowa to a greater depth.
