TURF ITEMS.
The three New Plymouth runners who contested at tho Wanganui spftrts on Tuesday were unlucky in getting so many seconds. C. Warci pulled off thalOOvds and ran second in the 220 yd s; BL Ford 1 was runner up in the 440 yds, while A. George carried off the mile, and ran second in the half-mile. A number of turf scribes have given it that the hurdle race at Stratford was won easily by Nugget, but they have altogether omitted to state that there was a blunder made at the second last jump, which entirely spoilt the chance of a couple o£ others. Mr Keith has sustained a severe loss through the death of his racehorse Eothen, by Ascot— Sunshine,' which dropped dead during early morning exercise on Saturday.
