The Town Band will give an open-air concert in front of the Government Buildings this (Monday) evening. Mr Thos. Robinson, the well-known carrier along the South Road, who for some years has done most of the carrying ; work of the Crown Dairy Company, left by the steamer Ruahinelast Thursday on j a trip to England, to endeavour to secure possession of a legacy to which he is entitled. He will bo absent about four months. The following are the winners of Champion Medals at the Taranaki Agricultural Society's Show : — Blood entire, Mr S. McGuinness' Waiuku ; draught entire, Mr •J. D. •Mitchell's Glengyle ; draught mare, Mr J. S. Oughton's Blossom ; bull, Mr A. A. Fantham's Lord Nonsuch V. (Shorthorn) ; cow, Mr A. A. Fantham's Queen of May (Shorthorn) ; ram, Mr A. J. Hoskin's (Lincoln) ; ewe, Mr A. J. Hoskin's (Lincoln). Captain Edwin telegraphed at 12.15 to-day : — "North-east to north and west gale and rain with heavy sea and high tides ; glass fall." j Constable Ryan telegraphed from Inglewood this morning that a young man named Allport wa3 found dead in his bed in a boarding-house there on Sunday. The donation of £2 2s to tho Wairarapa Relief Fund was from the Female Court of Foresters, Pride of New Plymouth. The ordinary meetings of the Taranaki County Council and Land Board were held to-day.
