INGLEWOOD.

[fkom our own correspondent.]

LAYING FOUNDATION STONE OF WESLEYAN CHURCH. Novemher 11. — The foundation stones , of the new Wesleyan Church at Inglcwoodwerc laid on Friday. There was a large numlxr of people present. Some of the Inglewood Foresters' attended in their regalia out of respect to 2VIr J. C. Peach, their secretary, and one of the first Foresters' in Inglowood. Hymns No. 990, 091, and 1)93 were sung by the church choir during the ceremony. The Rev. Mr Jones called on Mr White, of New Plymouth, to offer prayer for the success of the new church, which he did in a. most effective manner, and in words most suitable to the occasion. The Rev. Mr Gray, of New Plymouth, who was introduced by the Rev. Mr Jones, preached an eloquent and impressive sermon, and undoubtedly a most liberal one. The first stone was laid by Mr Oxeuhani, of Waitai-a, on behalf of that circuit, saying, " I lay this stone in the ii:i>ne of the Fither, Son, and Holy Ghost, Amen." The next stone was hid by two children of the Sunday school, namely, T. Leary and Miss Floyd. The next or thi'd stone was laid by Mr A. Lamb, on behalf of the Foresters, and placing £1 on the stone, made the sawe prayer as the others. Mr J. 0. Peach laid the fourth stone in the same manner. A sum of money was placed on each stone, and something over £11 was collected. A table was laid out in the old Church, when a largo number partook of an excellent tea. The Inglewood Br.iss Band played several pieces of music during the evening, and it is most surprising hoy. r well they all performed their parts ; so many changes taking place, those who were trained leaving, and new hands joining. The new Church will bo 48 feet x 2 1 feet, witli a stud lOfc, and will well accommodate about 200 persons. The old Church is to bo used as a Sunday schoolroom, when the new one is completed. Mr T. G. Leech showed me a very handsome, strong, well made trap to-day. The painting and lettering wcro done by himself. It is very creditably finished all through. i
