London, May 31, Mr J. Grant, of Glenmoriston, has obtained a divorce from his wife on the ground of adultery with Viscount Baring. SUPPRESSION OF INDIAN NEWSPAPERS. The suppression of Indian native newspapers which contain seditions articles is advocated by General Chesty, who says " they are doing an immense, amount of harm in India." St Petersburg, May 31. Offing to a plot to poison the Czar, the entire stall of men cooks connected with.the Palace have been, dismissed. TRAIN ON FIRE. Washington, May 31. A train caught fire in consequence of a collision on the* Wisconsin central line, and twenty persons were burned to ' death. FLOODS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA; Tremendous floods are reported in Fraser ' river, British Columbia,' and Spokane river in the United States. Enormous damage has been caused and hundreds of honses demolished. DECORATING A GIRL WITH LEGION OF HONOR. The President of France has decorated a girl named Carey with the medal of the Legion of Honor, for her bravery in respect to saving a train, on which were a large number of Frenchmen, from destruction. It appears that a bridge on one of the railway lines in the State of Indiana caught fire and was rendered unsafe for traffic. The girl, who is only ten years of age, noticed the danger, and took precautions to stop the approaching train, which had on board some seven hundred passengers, mostly Frenchmen. NEWSPAPERS IN TROUBLE. . A Committee of the Senate has recommended the prosecution of reporters and newspapers concerned hi the publication of the alleged charges of bribery.
