OKATO.
[from our own correspondent.] March 14. — Tilings in general have been very quiet here for some time. Tho measles epidemic has been prevalent, scarcely a family in the district escaping. The same cause has also greatly interfered with the school attendance, and also prevented the annual school picnic ; but as the meiisles aro now about clear, the festival is arranged for Easter Monday. The cool chamber at the dairy factory is nearly completed, and will, we hope, greatly enhance the dairy product. The creamery up the Oxford Road is also well under way, tho contract for the earthwork being all but completed. Tho creamery will be a boon to tho adjacent suppliers, after the experience of carting milk last winter. Naturally enough, suppliers on other by-roads wish for a like convenience, and no doubt in time tho system will be generally adopted. Rome was not built in a day. Miss Andrews, who is leaving the district, and whose departure is generally regretted, is to be entertained at a social on Thursday evening, details of which I hope to supply later.
