FUNERAL OF GOUNOD.
Paris, October 28.
The body of M. Gounod, the composer, was buried yesterday and accorded a State Funeral.
CZAR'S MESSAGE TO THE PRESIDENT.
The Czar has wired to President Carnot, that he is much touched and gratified at the warm and enthusiastic reception extended to the. officers and ereivs of the Russian fleet, and hopes that it will be the means of strengthening peace. END OF FESTIVITIES TO RUSSIAN

BANKER COMMITS SUICIDE.

Admiral Seymour entertained the Duke of Genoa and his officers at a banquet on board H.M.S Sans-Pareil. Afterwards the party had a gala night at the theatre. The Admiral and officers of the fleet were received with great cordality. MAYOR OF CHICAGO ASSASSINATED. Chicago, October 29.
Mr Harrison, Mayor of Chicago, has been shot dead by an unknown assassin.
