MINERS STRIKE CONTINUED.

The Lancashire and Cheshire miners, acting under the pressure of their leader 3, have refused to resume work at the redaction in wages. The Nottingham miners have resumed at the old rate. SIAMESE IDEMNITY LOST. News has leaked out thut the French cruiser, which was conveying the Siamese indemnity of three million francs (£120,000) to Saigon, was caught in a storm and sank. Tho treasure was not insured 1 . VICEROY OF INDIA. Lord Elgin succeeds the Marquis of Lansdowne as Viceroy and GoternorGeneral of India. The announcement ot tho appointment has been fairly well received.
