New York, Ootober 12.— 1n the third heat for the America Cup, while the breeze was light the Valkyrie led, but as it freshened the Vigilant improved her position, and gained half a mile. The race was not finished for want of time. A sensational incident occurred during the race. A vacnt owned by the Astors twice collided with a crowded ferry boat, and the latter was injured to such an extent that nho had to be beached.
