[prom odr own corespondent ] July 21 —A bachelors ball was held in the Town Hnll last night, when 26 couples werepreacnt. Tho ladies wore all handsomely dressed, and tho hal prettily decorated with ferns and flags. Tho music was very «ood, so dancing was kept up till daybn nk. Mr Burke provided tho refreshments, which were everything that could be desired This was the host turn out wo have ever had in tho district, all present seemed bent on making a pleasant night of it. I was glad to see some of our Waitaia nnd Tikorangi friends there. It ■was generally acknowledged that Miss McGuiro v as tho " belle of tho ball."
