FOOTBALL.
(Notes by " Screw Kick.") Tub return match for tho Junior Cup between Star 11. and Tukapa, which had been eagerly looked forward to by all the snppoi tors of tho game in town, was played on tho racecourse on Thursday uftornoon, tho result being an easy win for the Star by 21 points (3 goals from trios, a potted goal, and a try) to 3 points (goal from penalty kick). There wore about 500 spectators on tho ground. Mr J. M. Light foot made an excellent referee, and Messrs J. Elliot and P. Bishop actod as lino umpires. The Tukupi took tho webt base in the first spell, nnd wero favored by a light breeze, which died away ns the afternoon wore on. From the kick off it was apparent that the Star men wero going to make mattois lively, their strong forward rushes being a special feature. Tho Tukapa, however, managed to make the game interesting, and from a free kick at a difficult angle P. Bollringer nearl) landed a goal for thorn. From a rush in the Tukapa twenty-five Mclntyro picked up smartly and ran behind the goal scoring first blood for Star. Gill waß entrusted with tho kick and landed a neat goal. After this Tukapa woke up and got on several good rushes and carried the ball to Star II territory, whore a free kick waa allowed them, from which P. Bellringor kicked a goal. The first spell coded with Star 5 points ; Tuknpa 3 points From tho kick oil' in the socond spoil the Star II men made the game merry, and shortly after the start S. Smith scored a try but no goal was gcored. From this out tho Tukapa went from bad to worse, and appeared all "ut sea." W. Birch was the noxt to score for Star, dropping a goal, which was disputed. F. Hammond shortly afterwards ran in behind the Tukapa lines and touclie i down, Gill converting. J. Way scoied a try a few miuut< s later, and Okey kicke'l a splendid goal f.oin it. Onoacciiici.l occurred, Braund, a Tukapa three quarter, getting one of his legs so badly injured in the second spoil that he had to retire. A match was played on the town ground the Bame af tei nooa between Pirates and Tukapa 11., tho formor winning by 2 points to nil. On Thursday afternoon tho Clifton Rovers beat Lepperton by 12 points to nil; and Inglewood beat Stratford by 4 points to nil.
