July 26.— -The Domain Board has made ample provision for Arbor Day, two reserves on the south bank of the Patea having been fenced in, and a contract let for digging a number of holes for the trees which it is hoped that the public will bring in even larger numbers than last year. The treeß planted last year on tho north bank of the river have donefairiy well, especially the oaks, sycamore?, and other decidaous varieties. It has been suggested that tho public should be asked t j bring variety rather than quantity. Last year thore were plenty of trees contributed, but by very few people. Now ifthe public generally will take more interest in the affair and instead of a few people giving a number of trees, a number of people will give a ! few trees each, the effect will be far better' in every way
