The county team comprise Lucas, Cornish, Wcstharp, West, Phillips, Ford, Rawlin, J. Hoarne, O'Brien, Douglas, and Scott. W. Giffen, Jarvis, and Coningham stand out of ths colonial team. Stoddart having injured his log was unable to tako part in the match. The Australians in their first inninga scored 147 runs. Blacklmm 42, and Trumblo not out 61, were the highest scorors. Lyon, Gilfen, Bannerman, and Gregory were all dismissed without scoring, and the first five wickots fell with only 26 runs on the sheet. Hearno's bowling was almost unplayable, and he took threu wickets for five runs. The Middlesex wore all disposed o£ for 78 runs in tho first innings.
