'_■'<• Sydjjev, Augnsfc 23. News from Sangnier Island, the scene of J the recent terrible eruption, shows that the volcano is quieting down. Hundreds of bodies have been found in tho-lowlands. A portion of tho crater broke away, and a swift torrent of boiling mud rushed down the mountain sido. Enormous volumes of smoke are still pouring from the several craters. The islands are now covered with fnriou3 boiling wells and springs of mud.
