THE MEMBER FOR EGMONT.
TO THE EDITOK. Sib, — I was pleased to notice in tli° Budget of Aug 20 a part of Mr McGuire's speech on tho Now Plymouth Harbor question, and nothing could give his supporters more pleasure than to sco the genuineness of their member. Even his non-upporters now admit thut he gave no empty or vain promises on tho hustings. Our member has beea unceasing in his efforts to carry out every promise lie made, and I have heard a good many muke tho remark as to the loss it would have been to tho district if wo had not been fortunuto enough to have secured tho services of Mr iMcGniro as our member. Ono good and noticeable feature in our member is that ho does not bore the Uouse with long speeches on 1 hings he knows nothing about; but when he speak» he speaks to the poiit, and as a gentleman of this Btamp his word carries weight with it. I think tho Egmont electors may congratulate themselves on having returned such an excellent member. — I am, &c , <' r\
OUSBRVER.
