A most interesting pairs match took place on tho bowling green on Wednesday afternoon. Mr Downes. (President of tho Wanganui Club), assisted by Mr Morey, offered a fiiendly challenge to the President of tho New Plymouth Club (Mr Puul), who had the support of Mr Jacob, to play a game of 21 heads up. The local team made the running at tho commencement, but failed to maintain their position, the score at tho 17th head being Wanganui. 19; Now Plymouth, 12 ; the latter, however, made a splendid spurt at the finish, and succeeded in making it a tie (19 all) on the last head. An extra head was played to decide tho match, when after a most exciting finish tho victory was doclared in favor of the local team by one point. The engagement of Mr C. J. S. Palmer, of "My Sweetheart" fame, with tho Dobson-Konnedy Company, expires this weok, and tlie Wa ganui Chronicle says that Mr Parker proceeds to Sydney with tho object of forming a company of tried Austra'ian artistes to support him in a tour through New Zealand, which he expectß to commence early in March.
