HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

This Board met on Wednesday. Present: Messrs Heslop, Davidson, Brett, T. Elliot, Kyngdon, Lepper, Adlam, Corkill, and Price. Chairm'tn — Mr Heslop was voted to tho chair in the absence of Mr J. Bollriogor. Allowance.— The action of Mr Elliot in allowing provisions to E. Hopkinson, of Waitara, was confirmed. Local Bodies' Contribution. — Mr Samuel waited on tho Board and requested information as to striking rates for contributions payable to tho board by local bodies.— After reference to resojuttons, etc., it was resolve 1 that tho question of County contributions in disputo bo deferred until next meeting, ana in tho moantimo the matter be left in the hands of tho Chairman and Sacretary together with Mr Samuol, in order to have tho transaction fixed on a satisfactory basis. Hospital Charges.— Mr Price gave notice of motion " That to clause 90 of by-law 3, tho following words be added : ' And in addition whon special attendance ia necessary tbe patient shall be liable to pay cost of -snob extra attendance.' " Opinion. — It was decided to get tho solicitor's opinion re liability of Thos. Mitton's relatives contributing towards his support. Transfer. — Mr J. Hook wrote, requesting sanction to transfer a section at Fitzroy. r-rShe Board agreed , provided the transfer yro.fi made in legal form. CAcHon Confirmed— The chairman's action in granting an advance of £2 to William Howes was confirmed. Auckland Board. — A circular was received from the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, asking the Board to contribute towards cost of an appeal. — Tho Board decided to contribute, provided it , was legal to do so. Aid not Required. — A recipient of aid 1 notified that ho did not require further aid. Compensation Claim. — Mr J. Hart, jun., wrote, claiming £5 as compensation for interment of tho late Peter Bassi, who wat buried by Mr W. Sole, undertaker. Mr Hart claimod the right undor his contract, ' witti the Board to bury all patients who 'sdiodMn the Hospital. — A resolution was passed, requesting Mr Hart to attend the next meeting of tho Board. Redu ing 1 harqe. — The Board decided to reduce Hospital charges in the caso of Albort Coleman on account of exceptional circumstance. Probationary Nurse*. — A letter ftom the Surgeon recommending the appointment of Probationary nursas when required, was referred to the House Committee. .j Morgue. — Mr Price drew attention to „ the present state of the morgue. — Referred to House Committee. Accounts. — Accounts — Hospital, £164 17s lid ; Charitable Aid, £139 18a 2d ; "Hawefa Collage Hospital, £3 10s 2d ; Industrial Schools, £21 ; and travelling expenses, £5 5a — were passod for payment, k The Board adjourned.
