Mr John Ah Tong called at the Dunedin livening Star ' office the other day with rospect to tho prevailing epidemic, and corroborated allthatMrChewChong has stated. He claims to bo able to successfully treat the most acute cases, apd says that six weeks ago ho completely cured one of his own countrymen, who was in a bad way. Mr Ah .Tong says that in mild cases the parasite can bo removed by the point of a nocdlo ; but whero tho germ ia some days old ifchas to bo cut away. The disease, ho adds, is not an uncommon ono in China, whero it was known, when he left, as " English tacks." As to diet,, he says that persons suffering from influenza should pot | oat rice, moat, sugar, or bread ; but he Btrongly rooommonds potatoes boiled with- j out salt. Mr Ah Tong, who resides in Stafford street, immediately opposite St. Matthew's Church, expresses his willing- j ness to attond without rocoinponso any patient who has la grippe, and is particularly anxious to show any medical gontloman engaged with a critical case his treatment. Mr Ah Tong is also prepared to give patients dried fruits from China, which, in his opinion, is the host food they can take.
