TE WHITI AND THE DOG TAX.

At tho R.M. Court, Waitara, on Monday, several natives were fined by the R.M. for neglecting to register their dogs. Tho tax collector informed the Court that the natives refused to pay on the ground that they had received strict orders from To Whiti not to pay, as ho declined to recognise the European lawl Tho R.M. pointed out that under section 13 of tho Act of ,1880 unregistered doga could be destroyed; or seized and sold under section 5 of tho Amending Act of 1882, and advised the collector to bring the matter under the notice of his superior officer and take his instructions.
