The Argus devotes a long article to the Bryce episode, in which it attribtites the blame to tho Speaker, and declares that had he shown firmness in dealing with the question of privilege the whole affair would have been avoided. Sydney, September 18. Sir H. Parkes has withdrawn his notice of motion in favor of the Federation Bill, and has given a fresh notice for October Bth. Mr Howe, member for Bourke, has been arrested on a charge of obtaining £690 by fraudulent pretences in his capacity as Director of the Australian Guarantee Bank. Bail was allowed in a sum of £3000. Brisbane, September 18. By thirty- one to twenty-three Sir S. Griffith's separation resolutions have been referred to a special committee. Hobart, September 18. The Ministers have reconsidered their position, and will now hand over the Treasury Bills to reconstruct the Bank o£ Van Dieman's Land, when promissory notes are given for new shares.
